Extensions and Compliance

FIS manages extension and compliance transactions for foreign nationals in the Philippines, from reviewing your current status through to preparation, lodgement and follow-up.

An extension or compliance matter can involve your current immigration status, timing, supporting documentation, your immigration history, and the applicable Bureau of Immigration requirements, sometimes alongside a connected immigration issue. Foreign Immigration Services reviews your circumstances, identifies the appropriate extension or compliance process, and manages the transaction from preparation through lodgement and follow-up, where permitted.

You May Not Need to Manage the Bureau of Immigration Process Yourself

Where the applicable procedure permits representation, FIS can prepare and lodge your extension or compliance transaction on your behalf, liaise with the Bureau of Immigration, follow up on its progress, and manage the process from start to finish. You can track the progress of your transaction through the FIS Client Portal or call our team directly if you need assistance.

How We Can Assist

  • Reviewing your current immigration status and circumstances
  • Identifying the appropriate extension or compliance process based on the information available
  • Mapping the applicable requirements
  • Preparing and organising the required documentation, and reviewing it for apparent gaps
  • Preparing and lodging your extension or compliance transaction, where applicable and permitted
  • Liaising with the Bureau of Immigration on your behalf, where representation is permitted
  • Following up on the transaction and keeping you informed
  • Helping address a lapsed or overdue status, where applicable
  • Identifying relevant connected requirements or next steps

Common Situations We Handle

  • An authorised stay approaching expiry
  • A stay that has lapsed or become overdue for extension
  • Ongoing reporting or compliance requirements while in the Philippines
  • An immigration matter that interacts with upcoming travel
  • Recurring extension or compliance needs across more than one matter

Why Timing Matters

An approaching expiry is usually easier to address before it becomes an overdue-status problem. If your authorised stay becomes overdue, additional fees and requirements may apply, and the matter may require additional processing before it can be resolved. If your authorised stay has already lapsed, continuing to wait does not make it easier to address. Tell us what happened and we can assess the appropriate next step.

If you're not sure whether your status is even current, rather than simply due for extension, our Immigration Status Review service may be the better starting point.

If you expect to need extensions or compliance support more than once, FIS can act as your ongoing point of contact for these matters rather than a one-off resource.

How the Process Works

  1. Tell us your current situation

Tell us your current visa or immigration status, any approaching expiry or lapse, your intended stay or travel plans, and the relevant circumstances.

  2. Status and transaction review

We review the information and identify the appropriate extension or compliance process based on what is available.

  3. Requirements and document preparation

We map the applicable requirements and help you prepare and organise the required documentation.

  4. Lodgement and BI coordination

Where applicable and permitted, we lodge your transaction and liaise with the Bureau of Immigration on your behalf.

  5. Follow-up and next steps

We follow up on the transaction and keep you informed. You can track its progress through the FIS Client Portal at any time, and we help organise any relevant next steps.

What We May Need From You

  • Passport and current immigration documentation
  • Details of your current stay and expiry information
  • Relevant Bureau of Immigration correspondence or records, where available
  • Information about any lapse, prior extension or unresolved matter, where applicable
  • Travel plans, where relevant

The specific documents required depend on your circumstances. We will confirm exactly what applies once we understand your situation.

Need More Hands-On Support? Depending on your circumstances, FIS can provide additional support alongside your extension or compliance matter, including priority internal document preparation for time-sensitive matters, document collection and delivery, translation and certification coordination, and in-person assistance where available. Tell us what level of support you need when you enquire. Government processing times remain subject to the relevant authority.

Need to Extend Your Stay or Resolve an Immigration Issue?

Tell us about your current status and what you need to address. FIS can assess the matter, identify the appropriate process, and discuss what we can manage on your behalf.

Discuss Your Extension or Status

What happens if my authorised stay has already expired?

The appropriate next step depends on your circumstances, including how long the matter has been outstanding and your immigration history. Tell us what happened so we can assess the situation and identify the appropriate process.

Can I still leave the country if I've overstayed?

Departure requirements depend on your current immigration status and the circumstances of the overstay. Tell us about your status and travel plans so we can identify the appropriate sequence, and whether our Exit Clearance & Departure Requirements service is relevant.
